Swiss construction professionals constantly face the challenge of complying with a mix of national and cantonal standards.
With its great repository of industry knowledge, SBV has long been a trusted guide for the construction sector. Yet as regulations grow more complex, overwhelmed professionals require faster, more practical support.
SBV identified the need for a digital solution with which construction professionals can retrieve, understand and analyze verified regulations and norms within Switzerland. To realize this ambitious goal, SBV partnered with OWT whose technology and AI expertise helped build Construix, a digital AI assistant that truly serves the industry’s distinct needs.
SBV (Schweizerischer Baumeisterverband - Swiss Contractors' Association) is Switzerland’s leading association for the construction sector. Since 1897, SBV has been representing the interests of building contractors and promoting high standards in quality, safety, and professional training nationwide.

Turning regulations into on-demand answers
OWT supported SBV from early feasibility assessment through to implementation. Through a proof of concept, OWT validated whether SBV’s curated regulatory content could meet industry requirements when transformed into a structured, question-based format.
With promising results, the project advanced into a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and was further refined over continuous targeted iterations. Each iteration focused on improving usability, answer quality and clarity of source references.
To ensure reliability, the system uses a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) approach. This method involves indexing and retrieving SBV’s documents via Azure AI Search. These are processed through LangChain before being answered with natural language using OpenAI’s models. For the handling of payments, OWT implemented DataTrans, and applied Azure Active Directory B2C (Azure AD B2C) to secure identity management across organization accounts.

Design and usability played a central role from the start. Drawing inspiration from SBV’s Swiss heritage and visual identity, the interface remains intentionally clean and uncluttered so users can focus on the answers without distraction.
Construix’s logo was carefully designed to represent its Swiss construction context by subtly incorporating the Swiss cross within a brick pattern. With its modern design, the logo is crafted to endure and stand out from competing tools.
To ensure the platform truly met user needs, OWT ran structured User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and gathered insights through several usability surveys measuring the System Usability Scale (SUS), Customer Effort Score (CES), Customer Satisfaction (CSAT) and Net Promoter Score (NPS). Feedback confirmed a high user satisfaction and guided future improvements, especially concerning answer quality and the registration flow.
«Construix transforms our extensive regulatory knowledge into immediate, practical answers for the construction site and the office. OWT's AI expertise was key to ensuring the reliability and quality our users expect.»
